The Wrapped Sculpture Project


  • After or during researching the concept of wrapping and wrapped works of Art (Art that involves a secret), write about and/or draw possible abstract forms in your sketchbook. Be sure to visit the Ken Price exhibition at the MET to see his work and their form and also to observe the installation which was designed by the Architect Frank Gehry.
  • Then collect 5-7 small objects or forms that have some personal meaning to you, think sculpturally, select the objects for their form as well as their meaning, then:
  • Using a binding medium like wire, rope, yarn, string, cat gut, hair,Rubber bands and/or any other material you can think of, invent or convert to the purpose of tying the objects together and then wrap them to form a Sculpture.The size limit is that of a Soccer Ball.
  • Be inventive, cryptic, enigmatic and provocative!
